ISAPI Download Monitor

Orisis Software, LP announces our latest addition to the OCMS products : an ISAPI filter that tracks current download on a site utilizing the OCMS product. The filter is designed to accomplish these items below.

Phase 1 (Completed)
The immediate need for the download monitor was to control the amount of bandwidth being used by our visitors. By limiting the concurrent amount of download transfer, we have dramatically increased the server/bandwidth response, plus lowered the download time. Once the concurrent numbers are captured, the OCMS utilizes the numbers, by IP, to determine the Que system. The Que system defined the total allowed concurrent download and places rules against the current count downloading and the amount waiting.

-» Monitor any link directly to a file.
     -» Determine if that file is a file within the download system.
        -» Verify the file extension.
            If it matches a know type (exe, zip, etc) then increment the counter.
        -» When the file is completely downloaded or the visitor cancels,
            de-increment the counter

Phase 2
Due to the nature of the ISAPI filter, Orisis Software, LP will extend the functionality to include direct directory security for the Virtual Hard Drive system. This feature will allow only logged in members to access their own and other shared folders with-in the virtual directory system.

Design
The ISAPI Filter has been designed in C++ and works with II4 and IIS5. It is currently in BETA form but in use on production server for some of our customers.
